Anadyr is a city that belongs to the territory of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug and is called Kagyrgyn in the Chukchi language. The city of Anadyr is located in the permafrost zone – where the Kazachka River flows into the Anadyr Bay. The population is slightly more than 15 thousand, while there has been a significant increase in the population in recent years. Anadyr was officially founded on August 3, 1889, and was given city status in 1965.

Gold mining, fishing, hunting, reindeer husbandry, coal mining, fish and seafood processing are developed in Anadyr. There is a large seaport in Anadyr, which has connections with the ports of Magadan, Vladivostok, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, etc.

Anadyr International Airport is located in the village of Ugolnye Kopi, from which planes fly to Khabarovsk, Moscow and the settlements of Chukotka..
