Berezniki is a city in the Perm Region of the Russian Federation on the Kama River. Its history began with the construction of the first soda factory in the region. At first it was a small village, which gradually grew to a fairly large industrial center.

The main attraction of the city, its pride, are potash deposits, as well as enterprises, thanks to which a significant amount of potash products are exported. The distance from the city of Berezniki to Perm along the highway is 180 km.

The city has developed heavy industry, chemical and fuel and energy industries, mechanical engineering, and the production of potash fertilizers.

Education in Berezniki

Berezniki's higher education institutions include a Branch of Perm State University, a branch of Perm National Research Polytechnic University and a Representative Office of the Russian State Vocational Pedagogical University.

An unusual fame came to Berezniki in 2010 due to a strange incident: the soil collapsed in the city and a pit was formed, reaching a depth of 20 meters, and all 50 meters wide. Soil monitoring in the city is still underway due to the risk of a repeat of the situation. The city is also known for its festivals that take place every year: "Faces of Friends", poetry festival, etc.
