Cherepovets is a settlement in the southwestern part of the Vologda region, which was known back in the 14th century. Its history began with the construction of a monastery, so at first most of the townspeople were monks.
Cherepovets did not become a city immediately – only after a couple of centuries. Cherepovets is located 125 kilometers from Vologda. The distance from Cherepovets to Moscow is 530 km. and St. Petersburg is 530 km away.

What to see in Cherepovets
There are a lot of historical monuments in the very center of the city. For example, the Resurrection Cathedral, founded in the middle of the 18th century. Built in the Baroque style, it is still in operation.
Cherepovets is very characterized by monumental art, which makes it different from other Russian cities. Dozens of monuments that decorate parks, squares and streets – all this can be seen in Cherepovets. The main monument was erected in honor of the founding monks.
