There is a large city in the Trans-Baikal Territory, known since the 17th century, Chita. At first it was founded as a village, which later became a large settlement and acquired urban status. The city is located at the place where the Chita River flows into the Ingoda River.

What to see in Chita

The beauty of the city was known several centuries ago. Various monuments of architecture and history serve as a reminder of those times. The most magnificent building is the Mikhailo–Arkhangelsk Church, which was built in the 18th century. Another example of monumental architecture is the Kazan Cathedral, a new temple of the early 21st century.

The pearls of Chita include the Shumovsky Palace of the last century, when it belonged to a family of merchants. Chita feels the influence of the East. Just a glance at the Chita datsan is enough to make sure of this. With its design, it recalls the mysterious Tibet.
