Stanitsa Kanevskaya is the administrative center of the eponymous district of the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation (Southern District).

The village of Kanevskaya is located on the Kuban-Azov lowland in the north-western part of the region, on the Chelbas River (flows into the Sweet Estuary of the Bas. The Sea of Azov) at the confluence of the left tributaries – the Middle and Dry Chelbas, 128 km north of the center of the region – Krasnodar.

Transport in Kanevskaya

Transport links are by railway (Kanevskaya railway station on the North Caucasian Railway, Rostov-on-Don –Timashevsk line), the R-268 Krasnodar—Yeysk highway, running from north to south along the eastern outskirts of the village, the Kanevskaya—Leningradskaya and Kanevskaya—Chelbasskaya highways.

The settlement was founded in 1794 when the Black Sea Cossacks settled these places. In 1860, the Cossack Kanevsky kuren (from the Ukrainian city of Kanev) became a village.

The economy of Kanevskaya

Most of the residents are engaged in agricultural production. Grain yields are very high here. The economic potential is represented by enterprises of the food industry, a sugar factory, a meat processing plant, and the Kanevsky plant of gas equipment.
