The village of Kushchevskaya is the administrative center of the eponymous district of the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation (Southern District). The village is located on the Azov-Kuban lowland in the northern part of the region, on the Yeya River (bas. The Sea of Azov) at the confluence with it on the right of the river Kugo-Yeya, 198 km north of the center of the region – Krasnodar. The distance from Kushchevskaya to Rostov-on-Don is 80 km, to Yeysk - 118 km.

Transport links: by railway — Kushchevskaya railway station on the North Caucasian Railway, Tikhoretsk-Bataysk line; by highways – M—4 Don highway Krasnodar-Rostov—on-Don and local highways. A military training airfield is located on the southwestern outskirts of the village.

The history of the village of Kushchevskaya

The settlement was founded in 1794 when the Zaporozhian Cossacks settled these places and created a cordon line of Cossack outposts. In 1842, the Cossack village of Kushchevsky (named after ataman Kushchi) became the village of Kushchevskaya. The inhabitants were mainly engaged in agriculture, but after the construction of the railway in 1875, small enterprises (flour and oil mills) were born and trade developed.

After the tumultuous events of the civil war, under Soviet rule, the village became the district center (1924) and the infrastructure of the village developed. Currently, 28.3 thousand people (2010) live in the village, who are mainly engaged in agricultural production.
