Lesosibirsk is a city of regional subordination on the territory of the Yenisei district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory of the Russian Federation (Siberian District). Lesosibirsk is located in Eastern Siberia in the south of the Yenisei plain, in the western part of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, on the left bank of the Yenisei River (bas. Kara Sea) — 30 km northwest of the mouth of the Angara River, 275 km north of the center of the region — Krasnoyarsk.

Transport links: by waterways - a large river port (Krasnoyarsk–Dudinka connection); by railway – a railway station on the Lesosibirsk–Achinsk line (exit to the Trans–Siberian railway); by road - the R-409 Yeniseisk– Krasnoyarsk highway "Yeniseisky tract". The nearest airport is in Yeniseisk (34 km to the north).

The history of Lesosibirsk

The settlement was formed on the site of D. Maklakov Meadow, where a sawmill was built in 1916. In the late 1940s, logging enterprises were built, and the working settlements of Novomaklakovo and Novoeniseisk grew up with them. And in 1975 Novomaklakovo and Maklakovo merged into Lesosibirsk.

The economy of Lesosibirsk

Modern Lesosibirsk with an area of 277 sq. km. stretches for 25 km along the bank of the Yenisei and is a large transshipment base for cargo processing, for the regions of the Far North. Economic potential: enterprises of woodworking and wood processing, timber chemical and food industries.

Higher educational institutions in Lesosibirsk include the Lesosibirsk Pedagogical Institute, a branch of the Siberian Federal University, the Lesosibirsk branch of the Siberian State Technological University, and the Lesosibirsk branch of the Modern Humanitarian Academy.
