In the Tambov region there is the city of Michurinsk, formerly called Kozlov. His story is interesting and unique. It is believed that he owes his appearance to the Kozlovsky Trinity Monastery. The first buildings of the future city appeared in the early 17th century. One of the first structures was the fortress that protected the southern borders of the state.
The city of Michurinsk did not receive its modern name immediately, only in the 30s of the last century. It was named so in honor of the scientist Michurin. Since 2003, he has held the honorary title of science city, which was awarded to him by the President of Russia.
