The city of Orsk with a population of 230 thousand people. It is located on both banks of the Ural River, which divides it into two parts – the New and the Old City. It was founded in 1735 as the Orenburg fortress, which was moved downriver in 1743.
Economy of Orsk
In Russia, Orsk is famous as a manufacturer of domestic refrigerators. Now Orsk is a large industrial center with a large oil refinery using oil supplied through pipelines from the Caspian fields.
