Severomorsk is a city of regional subordination in the Murmansk region of the Russian Federation (North-Western District). Severomorsk is located on the Kola Peninsula, in the northwestern part of the Murmansk region, on the eastern shore of the Kola Bay of the Barents Sea, 27 km northeast of the regional center – Murmansk.

Transport links: by rail — Vaenga railway station 30 km from the Murmansk—St. Petersburg highway, by highways — Severomorsk—Murmansk highway (exit to the highways R-21 Murmansk—Petrozavodsk and R-12 Murmansk—Ivalo) and Severomorsk— Severomorsk-3; seaport. The airfield "Severomorsk -1" on the southern outskirts of the city. The settlement was founded by the indigenous inhabitants of the Kola peninsula (Sami), as a settlement of the Vaenga in 1896-1897.
The history of Severomorsk
Since 1935, during the construction of the naval base, a settlement has been growing, which was an air base of the Northern Fleet during the war. In the post-war period, the construction of the Navy base continued, and the working village of Vaenga was transformed into Severomorsk in 1951.
Currently, Severomorsk is a city with a well–developed infrastructure, it is the center of a closed administrative-territorial entity, on the territory of which the naval base of the Russian Northern Fleet is located.
Economy of Severomorsk
Economic potential: ship repair plant, construction, fishing and food industry enterprises (mainly under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation).
