Sharypovo is a city of regional subordination, the administrative center of the eponymous district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory of the Russian Federation (Siberian District).

Sharypovo is located on the southeastern edge of the West Siberian Plain in the northern foothills of the Kuznetsk Alatau, in the southwestern part of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, on the Kadat River (bas. Ob) at its confluence with the Temra River on the left, 240 km southwest of the center of the region - Krasnoyarsk.

Transport links: by rail – railway station of the Sharypovo–Krasnaya Sopka branch line on the Achinsk –Abakan line; by highways – highway R-412 Sharypovo–Uzhur–Balakhta and Sharypovo–Nazarovo—Achinsk, local roads in the directions: Belogorsk, Dubinino, there is a bus station; by airlines – airport 8 km away south of the city.

The history of Sharypovo

The working village of Sharypovo grew up on the site of the village of Sharypovskoye during the development of the Berezovsky-1 coal mine and the construction of the Berezovskaya GRES in the mid-1970s. Since 1981, it has been a city of regional subordination, the city–forming sectors of which are energy and the coal industry. From 1985 to 1988, the city was called Chernenko.

Currently, 37.1 thousand people live in Sharypovo, it is the center of the urban district (includes the urban-type settlements of Goryachegorsk and Dubinino), the prospect of socio-economic development of which is associated with the development of a local deposit of nepheline ores.
