Ukhta is a Russian city in the far north, named after the river of the same name flowing through it. In terms of population and size, it is the third city in the Komi Republic. It is often called the birthplace of Russian oil, as the first deposits were discovered there in the 16th century.

What to see in Ukhta

The central city streets are united by the name – Old Town, and the business card of Ukhta is an unusual monument in the form of Lenin's head, which stands on a mountain, assembled from metal pipes.

The Ukhta theaters, where various performances are staged, are a confirmation of the high culture of the city. Various natural monuments, namely nature reserves and sanctuaries, are concentrated in the vicinity of the city. The largest of them is the Belaya Kedva Nature Reserve, where dozens of species of taiga plants grow.
