Voskresensk is a city in the Moscow Region, standing on the Moskva River. The population is slightly less than 100 thousand. The city was first mentioned under Ivan Kalita, in 1339, but some historians claim that it was known even earlier.
Of all the sights of the town, the Church of the Resurrection of Christ is the most famous. It was first built of wood in the middle of the 16th century, and after a fire at the end of the 19th century. It was rebuilt from stone, and funds for the construction of the church were collected by the whole of Russia.
