The city of Vyborg in the Leningrad region with a population of 79 thousand was founded at the end of the 13th century by the Swedes. Then, in 1293, Vyborg Castle was built as a Swedish outpost. Russian Russian troops conquered the fortress at the beginning of the 18th century, and the territory of Vyborg officially became part of the Russian Principality.
